Start.Warwick is a new service provided by the Web Team, IT Services, to enable you to create your own home page.
Somewhere you can store all the handy information and links you need in a format that you want.
Somewhere you can keep track of everything going on in your life.
Somewhere to go for answers.
Start.Warwick is a container (or ‘portal’) into which you can put all the applications (or
‘gadgets’) you need to make your life easier. The gadgets are displayed in small windows on the web page.
You don’t have to have a personalised home page, of course, but we know how busy you are and how many
applications you access to keep abreast of your work, study and social commitments. This is a tool to help you
organise all of that data.
It’s somewhere that’s yours. Keep only the content you care about; create new tabs to store
the information; drag and drop the information to where you want it on the page; change the look and style of the page;
and customise the settings for each gadget. Take control of your web life!
And that’s it; you’re good to go!
Having trouble using Start.Warwick? We have a list of FAQs, including:
A gadget is a self-contained web application in its own window. To add a gadget to your page, click on
the ‘Add a gadget »’ button to view the gadget directory. You can either choose a gadget from the directory,
which contains a number of in-house created gadgets for University services such as email and insite news,
as well as some popular third party gadgets such as the BBC news feed and Facebook, or you can add an external
gadget via a url. See the ‘How-to’ video gadget for a demo.
